“I-I’m sorry, sorry for the disturbance,” I said, quickly closing the door. I left and headed straight to the restroom.

I didn’t expect to find that scene in his office. I had no idea Lauren was in his company. And what happened there—I never expected it. I know Lauren is his fiancée, but the way he treated her yesterday, you wouldn’t think they were in a relationship.

When I got to the restroom, I immediately went into a vacant cubicle and slammed the door shut. I didn’t know what was happening to me, but I felt a sudden ache in my chest.

“Athena, calm down. You shouldn’t be hurt by what you saw,” I told myself, letting out a deep sigh.

This isn’t right. I shouldn’t be feeling this pain, because I don’t like him and I never will like the person who ruined my life.

I stepped out of the cubicle after 20 minutes. Yes, I was in there for 20 whole minutes just trying to calm myself down. After washing my face, I immediately left the restroom.

“Oh! A big man!” I exclaimed in surprise.

  • Chasing Athena (ENGLISH)   Chapter 54: When Secrets Break

I didn't look up, still bowing my head and sitting here on the floor. I didn’t want to look at him because I might suddenly get angry and yell at him. I didn’t want that to happen, especially since the press and media are still here. And the situation might only get worse if I cause a scene here."Athena, hey, what’s wrong?"I looked up when I felt him approach me. But I didn’t look at him, my gaze stayed straight ahead, and I immediately stood up. It might’ve been rude, but I didn’t answer him and chose to avoid him instead."What's the problem? Did something happen? Are you okay?" he asked in succession as he held my arm when I was about to leave."I'm fine so let go of me," I answered flatly and removed his hand from my arm. "I'm going back to work, sir," I added and walked away. But I didn’t get far because of what he said next."Did I say or do something wrong to you? You can tell me, I'll listen." I closed my eyes at what he said. Why is he acting like this toward me again? It m

I couldn’t hold back my tears while looking at my sleeping child. I don’t want him to get involved in this problem because it would have a bad effect on him. The moment he finds out about it and who his father is, it will become a big problem. I’ve been trying to keep him away from this kind of situation, but it seems like he’ll end up learning the truth anyway. What should I do? Should I tell him who his father is?But the question is, will he be able to accept it?“Is your child asleep?” Aunt Rosa asked as I came down from Aaron’s room. I nodded in response and went to the living room where Vanessa was already sitting, looking at me.She’s been here for a while now. She was the one who picked up Aaron from school and brought him home. As for me, I didn’t go to work anymore. I only did a half day because of what I found out earlier. I suddenly lost the motivation to work, and I don’t want to see Sir Zach right now either.“What’s your plan now?” Vanessa asked as I sat beside her.“I

“What’s your plan now? Are you going to help him or not?” Vanessa asked as she lowered the coffee cup she was holding.I met up with her at a nearby coffee shop close to the company. I couldn’t keep still, so I called her to talk.“I still have to help. He’s still my boss, and I’m still his employee,” I replied, causing her to sigh deeply.“Ugh, you really don’t have any other choice. But haven’t you noticed something? Doesn’t it seem off?” she said, making me curious.“Off? What do you mean?” I asked, puzzled, looking at her. I caught her deep in thought, her hand resting under her chin.“Well, wasn’t that from 8 years ago? Why is this news only coming out now? And that woman—why is she only now coming forward? That’s been a really long time ago,” she explained. She’s right—why is this news only coming out now when it happened so long ago? Who would do something like that just to ruin Sir Zach?“I think someone’s trying to destroy your boss. Imagine, it happened 8 years ago but the i

"Aaron, don’t forget to eat your lunch, okay? I’ll just pick you up after your class," I said as we arrived at the entrance of his school. He nodded in response and smiled at me."Yes, mommy," he said before giving me a hug."Okay, good. Be a good boy, alright? I love you.""I love you too, mommy." He hugged me again and kissed me on the cheek before going inside. I just watched him until he entered his classroom.Aunt Rosa wasn’t feeling well—probably because of the family day yesterday. She was out in the sun for too long and joined several of the family games, so she ended up with a headache and a slight fever. That’s why I told her to rest at home and I’m the one taking Aaron to and from school for now. After a 20-minute ride, I finally arrived at the company, but I stopped by the pantry first to buy some food. I hadn’t eaten anything since we left the house earlier."Ate, one sandwich and an iced coffee, please," I told the vendor.Ugh, I’m starving. Why didn’t I eat before leavi

I still couldn’t believe what I heard earlier. Why did he call Sir Zach “Daddy”? It wouldn’t have come to that if they hadn’t talked about it. I didn’t understand—it confused me. But I didn’t want to ask Sir Zach or Aaron because I didn’t want to ruin the most special day for him.The kids finished performing, and next up were the parents performing with their children. Aaron and I were the first to go on stage.“Mommy, are you okay?” Aaron asked, worried.“Yes, I’m fine. Mommy’s just nervous,” I answered and forced a smile on him.“We can do this together, Mommy,” he said before smiling at me.When Aaron’s section was called, the two of us went up on stage and were handed two microphones by the emcee. I immediately looked toward the middle where many people were clapping and cheering for us, which made me even more nervous.“Mommy...”I felt Aaron hold my hand. I bent down to look at him. His wide smile somehow eased my nerves.[Song playing: Iingatan Ka by Carol Banawa]Aaron and I

“Son, did you forget anything at home?” I asked Aaron while we were already halfway on the way to school.“No, mommy. I already packed my things last night,” he answered. I smiled—my son was clearly prepared since last night. He was obviously excited for the event later.“Don’t worry, Athena. Your son is even more prepared than the two of us,” Aunt Rosa said, making me laugh.Today is the day the family day will be held. I’m somewhat excited, but at the same time nervous about what Aaron and I will do later. Maybe it’s because I’m afraid we might embarrass ourselves. But I think I can manage to perform later in front of a lot of people. When the three of us arrived at the school, we headed straight to the gym where the event would take place. Many people were already there, preparing at their respective spots. You could really see the joy and excitement on their faces and in their eyes.“Good morning, Teacher Eva,” I greeted with a smile Aaron's teacher as we arrived at grade 1 area.

“Mommy...” my son said, then suddenly ran toward me. I immediately sat down so we’d be at the same height.“Why are you here? Didn’t Mommy tell you to stay at the office?” I said softly, but he didn’t answer because he was looking at Sir Zach.“I’m sorry, Athena, and I’m sorry, Sir Zach. He insisted on coming out, I couldn’t stop him,” said Von, but I could hear the nervousness in his voice.“No need to apologize, it’s fine. He’s welcome here,” replied Sir Zach, which puzzled Von.I turned my gaze to Aaron, but he still couldn’t take his eyes off Sir Zach.“Hey there, buddy, how are you?” said Sir Zach with a smile as he walked toward us. But Aaron didn’t answer him.“Sweetheart, he’s talking to you,” I said softly.“I don’t want to talk to him, Mommy,” Aaron replied with a frown, which surprised me.“Aaron...” I said, but there was already a warning in my voice.“It’s fine, don’t force him to talk to me,” Sir Zach cut in.I could only sigh and stood up. I couldn’t really force my son

Impossible, I can't believe what I just found out.How could it be Alexander? W-Why? I don’t know, it’s all so confusing, I’m so confused.“Are you sure, son, that it was really him who gave that?” I asked while looking in Alexander’s direction.“Yes, Mommy, I clearly remember him. It was really him, Mommy,” Aaron answered with certainty. He seems to be telling the truth, and I don’t think he has any reason to lie to me.“Why, Mommy? Do you know him?” Aaron asked, which left me speechless. What should I say? Should I tell him the truth?“I-I don’t know him, son. Let’s go,” I replied, taking his hand again. We started walking toward the elevator, but I did everything I could to avoid being seen by Alexander. I didn’t want him to see my son, and I didn’t want him to find out that Aaron is my child. I wanted to talk to him and ask how he met my son. But maybe now isn’t the right time or place to bring it up, especially with Aaron here.“Mommy, why are we taking this elevator?” Aaron aske
