Rena’s POV.

Simultaneously, the thick black covering was pulled away. The sudden burst of light pierced my eyes, forcing me to squint.

"Wow! She's indeed a gem!"

"She's beautiful, I want her!"

“Look at that lingerie, so sexy!”

"A true masterpiece, worthy of the highest bidder," the auctioneer's voice cut through the murmurs, fueling the growing excitement.

As my vision adjusted, I realized the room was crowded with men of all sizes and ages, eager to start bidding. And I was the object of their desire.

I'd seen some of the men earlier, especially that ugly obese man.

My heart chilled, fear gripping me like a vice. I didn't want to stay there, trapped like a helpless animal. I wanted to find a way out.

I scanned my surroundings, desperately searching for any glimmer of hope, any chance of escape. But none came.

The bidding began, voices rising in a frenzy of greed and lust. I stood vulnerable, barely wearing anything, and the cold air slapped my skin, making me shiver.

Just then, the ugly obese man called out an exorbitant amount, silencing everyone else, I scanned the room in desperation.

That's when I saw him - my mysterious savior. He sat alone, shrouded in mystery, at a distance from the frenzied bidders.

His eyes locked onto mine, but they held no interest, no desire. He didn't raise his placard, showing no intention of bidding for me.

I wondered if I had misjudged him earlier. Was he truly a savior, or just another player in this twisted game? His indifference confused me. Didn't he smile at me earlier? Didn't he pat my head like his child? Why wasn't he saving me now? Can't he see that I needed saving?

Although I don't want to be sold to anyone, however, if I must choose, I want him to buy me, to own me.

My tears welled up as I locked eyes with him. My heart was bleeding with hurt and disappointment with every passing second.

I bit my lips, anxiety coursing through my veins as I hoped he'd raise his placard.

"$100,000,000 going twice…" the auctioneer's voice echoed through the room.

100,000,000!

My heart pounded in my chest as I found the obese man. The bastard was willing to throw away such amount just to fuck a woman, worthless ape! I cursed.

All my hopes dropped. No wonder my savior won't do anything. The money was too much to outbid. I clenched my teeth as I slowly reconciled with my fate.

"$100,000,000, going..." he repeated, his voice dripping with anticipation.

The room fell silent, awaiting the auctioneer's final declaration.

Having lost all hopes, I shut my eyes, my breathing growing haggard. I needed to think of what to do next. I couldn't see myself thinking that such an ugly man would lay his filthy hand on me. I'd rather die.

Just when I opened my eyes again and fixed them on my savior, he stood up, threw his placard onto his seat…

And then, he walked out!

My heart screamed in despair as I watched the door swing shut behind him, leaving me feeling abandoned and vulnerable. At least, when he was there, I drew strength from him, but now, I felt hollow and terrified.

"Sold!” The auctioneer's voice cut through my despair.

The hammer dropped, sealing my fate. I was now the property of the repulsive old man.

My mind went blank, shutting out the noises around me. The sounds of the auction room, the murmurs of the crowd, and the auctioneer's voice all faded into silence.

My hopes, my life, everything were shattered in a blink of an eye.

I couldn't bear the reality of my situation, so I escaped into numbness. Whatever happened after that, I couldn't tell.

Even when I felt myself being transported away from the auction house and onto a yacht, I remained numb. My mind was consumed by thoughts, desperate thoughts: to escape, kill myself, or kill the repulsive man.

The yacht's luxurious surroundings were lost on me. I was trapped in a prison of despair.

Left alone in the large room, I glanced around, searching for anything that could aid my plan.

My gaze landed on a delicate vase. I trotted over to it, grasped it firmly, and shattered it on the floor.

I picked up a sharp shard, carefully concealed it. I hid the remains of the broken vase in case anyone walked in on the mess.

If I could kill that disgusting old man, I would be happy.

In my twisted logic, I somehow believed that his death would also hurt Roland and Soni.

Their business would suffer, and perhaps, just perhaps, other girls would be spared from the same fate. And maybe my death or his death would pull the authority’s attention to the evil world here.

With the shard clenched tightly in my hand, I walked to the bed and settled in, hugging my legs as I waited anxiously for what was to come. My heart raced with anticipation and fear.

But after what felt like an eternity, the door finally swung open, and the person who entered the room wasn't the repulsive old man I had expected.

Instead, it was my mysterious savior, who had walked out of the auction, leaving me shattered.

Our eyes met, and for a moment, time froze. I held my breath, unsure what to make of his sudden reappearance. Was this even real?

"Now that I've saved you, like you asked," he began, his gravelly deep voice vibrating through every cell in my body.

"What can you do for me?" His eyes locked onto mine, devoid of warmth.

I felt a shiver run down my spine as his gaze held me captive. Saved me? Has he really saved me... My eyes suddenly widened as the possibility sank in.

He was truly here for me!

I threw the shard away and crawled out of bed and hurried barefooted to his side. Standing meekly before him, I lowered my head, “I– I'll do anything you ask.”

“That's not a good enough answer. I don't lack people,” he said.

Kaan~I was halfway to Catania when the call came in.One ring.Two.Then silence. It wasn’t unusual. Not for men like me. Sometimes silence was safer. Cleaner. But something in my gut twisted the wrong way. Something colder than instinct, sharper than a blade. I stared out the window of the moving car, watching Sicily blur past. Then the second phone rang – the one no one was supposed to use, except one person. I picked it up immediately.“Soni?”Her voice was cracked glass. Choked with dust. “D– Dad…?”My blood froze. “Talk.”“They bombed it. The villa. It's – it’s all gone.”Everything stopped. My lungs. My pulse. The world. “What?”“I got her out. B– but Rena…. She… she's receiving medical care. We’re in the tunnels now.”“Turn the car around!” I barked the order. My driver didn’t even ask. Rena~I knew something was wrong. When he kissed my forehead and my stomach, I was awake. But I didn't stop him from leaving. I knew it was important. I knew that to build a safe haven for our child, he needed to weed the poison out of the roots first.Still, when the door clicked shut and his footsteps faded into silence, my chest felt hollow.I rolled onto my side, placing a protective hand over my still-flat belly as I strained myself to get the note he left for me. It was a lullaby. I chuckled despite myself, because I couldn't tell if it was for me or our baby. But either way, I read it aloud, softly, my voice cracking with emotion."Little light in darkest night,Rest your soul, the world’s alright.Though I walk through storms and flame,My heart returns when you whisper my name."I pressed the paper to my lips, breathing in his scent faintly lingering on it. The tears came quickly - warm and silent - because it was for both of us. And because I knew what it meant. He was walk
