Second Chance

" Parth, stop running, please give back my phone, ' Lily shouting and running after him like Tom runs after Jerry. 

 " First you promise me, you'll let me play game for an hour on your phone, " Parth jumped up on a high-broad wall of his home and said. 

" No, i won't." Lily said, " and please return it, you already played a lot. " she sulked and acted like crying. 

             Parth, a higher secondary boy, very mischievous and jolly in nature, next year he supposed to be a college student but he was still a baby by heart. The reason  was yet to come so soon... 

" Smiley, come here darling, i will give you mine. I have a big chocolate too, " an old lady, holding a perk-sized chocolate came in the courtyard. 

   She was his grandma, loved him more than her spectacles and the stick which supported her in walking. 

Parth, her only grandson used to call him Smiley because whenever she looked at him, she felt overwhelmed. She was only responsible for his mischievous behaviour and never let him mature enough like a senior secondary boy. 

" Okay, grandma. " he looked her from upstairs and came down in no time. Lily took her phone from him and said, " Grandma, where is mine chocolate? "

      Lily was the only sister of Parth. She was        elder to him and loved him so much. "            Already kept in the refrigerator. "                      grandma told her while giving her phone         to Parth. 

" What's sounding so loud, almost breaking my head?" grandma put her hand on her ears trying to cover it to prevent the harsh sound and said, " Lily, go and see through the balcony, who is trying to break something. "

Lily went to the balcony. She saw the tall-high building, very luxurious one on the left side of her house was being repaired and painted. " It's already so beautiful. Is there any need of repairing and painting it? "Lily entered the room mumbling. 

          "That beautiful building is being repaired. " Lily told her grandma. " Yeah, someone purchased that luxurious house. "an old man entered house and told them. He was Mr. Harrison, grandpa of Parth and Lily. 

" I heard, they are very rich business man, owns  a very big company. The richest man of this society. "his eyes got wide-opened while telling them. 

He sat on a chair , looked around and askedasked Lily, " Where is Parth? Playing game? ". He was the only person of the family who was very strict to him. 

Parth walked up there, holding mobile in his hand and headphone in his ear, " No, no, don't move there... ' instructing while playing. 

" See, i know him very well. "Mr.Harrison looked at him and frowned. " Let him play little bit, it will freshen up his mind. " grandma said trying to protect himhim. 

    " Next year, he is going for admission in college, if he won't score good marks, nothing can help him in getting high-tanked college. " Mr. Harrison said with despondent mood. Lily looked her grandpa gloomy face. She came to him and said, " You don't worry Pa, he will do his best. He is doing excellent in his class. " Parth and Lily used to call him 'Pa'. 

Lily went to kitchen to bring tea for both of them. She came with some biscuits and tea in a tray. 

" It's getting dark now, Parth switch on the light of the rooms and courtyard. She told him while collecting the dirty utensils. Lily is three years elder to him, completed her degree this year and giving interview for the job. 

         Someone knocked the door. 'Lily, see who's there at the door. " Grandma called her to open the door. Lily went to open the door. She said, " It's mummy." and took bag from her mother's hand holding in her hand. 

Lily mother was a working woman. She was employee in a very small company. Her husband divorced her right after Parth got born and married to another lady. Mr. Harrison and his wife didn't support their son in this and they decided to stay with their daughter-in-law and  grandchildren.. 

 The bag which she was holding was packed   with vegetables and other eatables items   which she used to purchase from the     market while coming back from the office. Lily kept the bag on an almirah and went to kitchen to bring a glass of water and a cup of tea for her mother. 

      After few minutes, Lily came with water and tea and gave to her mother. " Where is Parth?" she asked Lily after taking a sip from the cup. Lily went to almirah and took out the vegetables and kept the vegetables in a basket. 

        Meanwhile, Parth was walking on the roof, putting headphone in his ear, playing song at a very high-volume and shaking his body at its rhythm. " Parth.. Parth.., come down. Mummy is calling you. "Lily called him louder but he was in another world, carefree from the outer world. 

" Mummy, he is not listening." Lily got irritated and went in the kitchen for cooking food for the dinner. Her mother went to talk with her in- laws . This was the time when she used to talk with them about her work and discuss on the household expenses where to spend how much and asked them if they needed anything. She was trying her best to take care of them in her best way. and they also loved her like her own daughter. They used to feel proud of her always. 

Parth came down and moved to them and returned his grandma's phone. He then moved to his room for studying. He saw from the window of his room that the building was still being painted. He looked at clock. "It's almost 9 o'clock and they are still working" Parth thought, " Okay. Let it be. and got busy in his study. 

After a week there was a class test in the school. He was good in study. So, every teacher used to love him a lot and always expected a good result from him and he always used to fulfill their expectation.
